Finish 6 By Christmas - Update 1

Quick update on my Project Pan!

Finished a little bit more on Penny. Not much, but party season is coming so I'm hoping to use it more.

A lot of progress on Black Velvet! I should be able to finish it this project.

Tons of progress on Mink as well and I've hit pan on Barely Beige!

I don't think I used this at all, surprisingly.

A little bit more gone on the lotion!

Daisy is finished! I don't think I used either of the other two at all.

October Nail Polish Colours

I still haven't done anything with my nails. I feel like I'm on a nail hiatus, but really I'm just too lazy. If I don't start painting again in 2016, I'll just drop this series all together.

Birchbox - September 2015

This month's box was a bit better.

Included in September's Birchbox:
  • JAPONESQUE Eyeshadow in Champagne? - sample size 1 shadow $8 - full size 2 shadows $16
  • Briogeo Blosson & Bloom Volumizing Blow Dry Spray - sample size 1oz $4.51 - full size 5.1oz $23
  • Raw Spirit Fragrances Citadelle Eau de Parfum - sample size 1mL $6.67 - full size 7.5mL $50

I wasn't overly impressed this month either. I am running out a scrubs and eye cream samples, so it's not total loss.

ipsy - September 2015

I used up some points this month.

Tarte LipSurgence Skintuitive Lip Gloss in Energy - I really regret spending 500 points on this. There's barely any colour and it's sticky.

Touch In Sol - Stretchex Stretch Lash Effect Mascara - This was 250 points. Really can't have enough mascara samples since I don't wear it often and therefore it dries out on me.

MicaBeauty Felt Tip Eyeliner - This is okay but I don't think it was worth the 500 points I spent on it. Again they tend to dry out on me fast and so little samples don't hurt.

September was another clutch winner! The products inside were another story.

Included in this month's bag:
  • treStiQue Mini Matte Lip Crayon in Nantucket Nude - sample size 0.02oz - full size 0.02oz $10.67
  • Evelyn Iona Cosmetics Cream Blush in Ash - sample size 0.06oz $12 - full size 0.11oz $22
  • Bayberry Naturals Rosehip & Hibiscus Moisturizer - sample size 15mL $1.98 - full size 136mL $17.95
  • NYX Eyeshadow Trio - sample size 3g - full size 3g $9
  • Vasanti Brighten Up! - sample size 20g - full size 20g $10
Retail value of September's bag: $43.65 ($10.35 less than last month)

This one wasn't too bad. I'm using the exfoliator right now and so I'll just use this one right afterwards. Everything else will go into use up piles.

Hiatus

We've had a family emergency and so my posting will be lacking. I know I'm not the best at it normally, which hopefully I will work on in the new year. For right now, I'll try and get my back log up before Christmas, but I'm not guaranteeing it.

Finish 6 By Christmas - The Beginning

So here we go again! My goal is to try and finish at least 3 products; one of them being one of the eye products that I'm continuing from my Fall project.

So the returning items:

Elizabeth Mott Smooth Shadow in Penny

Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Liner in Black Velvet

Cover Girl Quad in Country Woods (Mink in particular)

The new items are:

Calgon Morning Glory Body Mist - Again, I've had this WAY too long and I no longer like the smell on me. It'll be used as a room spray again.

The Healing Garden Mandarin Body Lotion - As you can see, I've already started this and this project will be my motivation to use it up. I've had it in my collection way too long as well and I have so many lotions to get through since I really don't use lotions much.

Perfume Samples Trio - I want to finish all of this as one item as they are half used and it'll help use them up. I have tons of little samples from getting Sephora orders and I need to get through them.

  • Avril Lavigne's Black Star - a discontinued perfume. It's notes are pink hibiscus, black plum and dark chocolate.
  • Marc Jacobs' Daisy Eau So Fresh - one of his newer perfumes. It's notes are raspberry, grapefruit, rose, cedarwood and musk.
  • Vera Wang's Princess - I have a full size of this one so I just want to use up the sample. It's notes are apple, vanilla, and Tahitian tiare flower.
So there we go. Let's see what I can accomplish this time.

Ta Da!

TO ME!
Therefore there will be no posts today. I'm spending the weekend with family and friends and hopefully I'll have some pictures to post on Monday!

September Favourites

I've got some favourites this month! Wee! If you haven't already guessed from reading my blog, I'm a skincare junkie. So, of course, this month is all about the skincare. My face has been going nuts with the seasons changing and these three have saved me.

Fresh Rose Face Mask - My skin just drinks this up! I'll wash and exfoliate my face then throw this one and watch some YouTube and wash it off after 10 minutes or so. My skin feels so much better! Then nighttime moisturizer and bed.

Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash - I think this may be my new favourite face wash. I've been testing out a bunch and this is number 1 right now. It takes so little to wash my face that the price may as well be worth it.

Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment - This stuff is a YouTube favourite and I can see why. I use this just in my t-zone as my cheeks are too dry for the power this stuff does. It has really cleared up the blackheads on my nose, chin, and from around my lips. I use it once a week or so, depending on my face that day. It's pricey but works wonders for me.

September Empties

I finished up quite a few products in September. #proudofmyself

Balea Exfloliating Face Treatment in Cream and Honey - It smelled nice but was not overly memorable. Wouldn't Repurchase.

The Body Shop Blue Corn Scrub Mask - This used to be holy grail before I knew what exfloiators were. Finally finished it up. This was my back up.

Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel - This broke me out like crazy. I will not be buying this.

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster - This is Holy Grail for me. I always have a back up.

Ole Henriksen Ultimate Eye Gel - Gels and my face don't agree. This did nothing for me.

Philosophy Purity Cleanser - This was ok. It didn't dry out my skin, but at the same time, I didn't get that clean feeling. I might get it again, once I'm done all my cleansers.

Michael Todd Jojoba Charcoal Facial Scrub - I like this, but I have found better. I can't buy it locally so I probably won't buy it again.

Givenchy Ange ou Demon sample - I don't know where I'd buy this even if I did like it. It's too powdery for me/

FCUK her sample - Again I don't know where I could buy it. It is nice though, I'd wear it again if I got it.

Klorane Dry Shampoo for Dark Hair - This is almost too dark for me with my summer colouring, but perfect for my winter colouring. I'll probably get more when I'm out of my full size regular stuff.

Scope Outlast Mouthwash - We bought a duo at Costco. This is the last of it.

Sensodyne Toothpaste - My Go-To. I'm working through some samples from the dentist.

Oral-B Complete Floss - Sample from my dentist. It was floss. Nothing special.

Whish Shave Cream in Acai Grapefruit - I wouldn't buy a full size of this, but if I got it in a box, I'd use it.

Dove Anti-Perspirant Mini - I think I bought this for travel. I wouldn't buy a full size.

The Body Shop Oceanus Bubble Bath - Long since discontinued.

Calgon Body Mist in Moon Petal Mist - I've had this since high school. No, I won't buy it again.

A couple of DavidsTeas - I didn't really like either of them, but since it's getting colder, I figured I'd get back on the bandwagon.

Finish 5 By Fall - Finale!

I didn't really make any progress on the eye products, so I didn't bother with taking pictures again.

I didn't do as bad as I thought I would actually. I did finish a couple of products that I've had for a long time. I think for my next project I'm going to put those three products in it and put three more old ones that aren't make up.

That's right, I'm doing Finish 6 by Christmas! You'll be that post next week, hopefully!

September Nail Polish Colours

I didn't paint my nails or use anything on them at all in September. I have been taking new vitamins though. They're growing but still are brittle. I'm working on it!

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

I'm Canadian so I'm celebrating Thanksgiving with my family today. I hope everyone had a good weekend. I'll have a new post up on Wednesday!

ipsy- August 2015

August's ipsy was a good one! I really like the clutch too.

Included in this month's bag:
  • Marc Anthony Argan Oil - sample size 20mL $3.20 - full size 50mL $7.99
  • Noyah Lipstick in Desert Rose - sample size 0.04oz $4.50 - full size 0.16oz $18
  • Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in Elegantly Wasted - sample size 15mL $13.24 - full size 17mL $15
  • Marsk Eye Shadow Brush - sample size 1 brush - full size 1 brush $26
  • Skone Cosmetics Luxe Doubler Lip/Eye Pencil in Wine - sample size 0.1oz $7.06 - full size 0.17oz $12
Retail value of August's bag: $54 ($10.91 less than last month)

I'm kind of happy with this one. I already use this hair oil and I'm also out, so that saves me from buying it. It lasts forever too. The lipstick is the cutest little sample!! I'll never say no to a purple polish or another eye shadow brush. The lip liner I could have done without. I wish they would match up the lip products so that you can use them together.

Birchbox - August 2015

This month's Birchbox was a bit of a let down.

Included in August's box:
  • amika Un.Done Texture Spray - sample size 0.75oz $3.82 - full size 5.3oz $27
  • St. Tropez Gradual Tan In Shower - sample size 1.6oz $7.38 - full size 6.7oz $31
  • Blaance Me Congested Skin Serum - sample size 7mL $15.89 - full size 15mL $34
  • LAQA & Co. Cheeky Lip Crayon in Cray-Cray - sample size 1 Crayon $ 8.67 - full size 3 crayons $26
  • Crabtree & Evelyn Ultra-Moisturising Hand Therapy - sample size 25g $5.50 - full size 100g $22
Retail value of this month's box: $41.26 ($24.02 more than less month)

So is it bad that I, not a hand cream lover, was most excited to see Crabtree & Evelyn Hand Cream in this box. The spray will go into the use up pile. I tend to use them as dry shampoo. The crayon will be stashed until I use up more makeup. The hand cream will also be stashed. The serum will go right into use because my skin is acting up. The tanning stuff, well, I might just throw out. I don't do self-tanner.

August Empties

I did some good full-sized damage this month on the bath products, but let's start out with the teas. I didn't drink much tea at the beginning of the summer, but it started to get cooler in the nights at the end of the month, so I started up again.

Saigon Chai - This was okay. I liked chais a lot when I bought and now I'm kinda over it. Can't say I'd purposely go out and buy it again, but wouldn't be sad if it showed up in a kit or something.

Chocolate Rocket - I've been on the hunt for a new mate tea that I like. I thought this chocolate raspberry one would be it. I was sadly mistaken.

Splash! - An oldie but a goodie. Sadly, they don't have this all the time, or they've discontinued it.

Pistachio Cream - A herbal that I didn't really care for. I didn't find it all that nutty.

Klorane Dry Shampoo - My staple. I'm trying the coloured version right now, but I think I like this one better.

Majestic Winter Winter Berry Bubble Bath - This was ok for a cheap bubble bath. It's super old and I'm glad I'm finally rid of it.

Bath Caviar in Juicy Citrus - Again, super old. It made the bath smell nice.

Just Buffing Exfoliator by Mark in Snowdrop Flower - This had walnut shells in it and they would hang out in my tubs for days. The packaging also is hard so I couldn't squeeze it. That was annoying.

Gillette Satin Care with Olay - I buy this at Costco. I'm not picky; I usually just buy whatever's on sale that week.

L.A. Girl Calcium Nail Builder - I accidentally left this open. It didn't really work for me anyways

Freeman Avocado & Oatmeal Clay Mask - This was nice but I can only get it at Costco and it's once in blue moon that they have it.

Sensodyne - I use sensitive toothpaste. My dentist likes to give samples. I'm working through them before they expire.

Fresh Rose Face Mask - I love this stuff. I bought a full size after trying this one little sample. I found just one use and I saw a difference.

August Favouries

When I went to take a picture for this post, I realized I didn't really have any favourites that stood out. I'm trying to use up products, so I didn't really use anything new in August. September may have some though, I've got a bunch of new products coming to me soon.

Finish 5 By Fall - Update 2

I've totally been sucking at this project.

The mascara is totally dried up/finished.

The body spray is finished!

I didn't make much progress on the eye shadow, but there's a bit more pan.

The copper liner did get used a bunch so I did get more shaved down on that.

The black liner broke a couple of times, so I made progress on that...kinda...?

I doubt I'll finish those three by fall, but I did finish 2 this month.

PS. I know this is going up when the finale should be going up, but I'm behind on posts. I will have the finale up soon!

More of Life Getting in the Way!

So as many of you know, I'm a navy wife. Which means my hubby goes away for months at a time. Now this hasn't happened in awhile because he's not currently posted to a ship. Well, he's gone again. He volunteered for a trip. We were not ready for him to get back on a ship. It took awhile to gather everything up again, hence the no posting. I just didn't have time to take pictures.

After he left, quite frankly, I just didn't want to do anything. I had to drag myself out of bed just to go to work. It was rough. Now I'm back to normal and you'll see lots of posts for the next little awhile. I've got some new ideas and some reviews coming up.

Let's get to this!

August Nail Polish Colours

In August, I gave my nails a break from nail polish. They've been quite dry and brittle and breaking a lot, so I'm trying to heal them.

In September, I'm going to be using Sally Hansen's Maximum Shield.

I'm hoping this will help. I'm planning on doing a little review at the end of September on this product. So let's see how it goes!

July Empties

I got rid of I ton of stuff this month! I decided that I was going to do more masks and take more baths in July. We also went camping for a weekend so I got to use up some travel things.

Avon Bubble Bath mini in Christmas Cookie - I don't find Avon bubble baths bubble enough so this was single use. It smells of vanilla icing.

Avon Bubble Bath mini in Soft Pink - Same as above. This one smells of roses.

Avon Tranquil Moments Bubble Bath - Same as above. This one smells of lavender.

Avon Shower Gel in Peach - The label came off so I'm not sure exactly of the scent. It does the job, but not my favourite body wash.

Hotel Facial Bar in Citrus Sage - I think we got this last year when we stayed at a sister hotel. We just used it as hand soap in our bath room. It's soap, it doesn't smell horrible, it washes our hands, nothing fancy.

Quo Strengthening Nail Polish Remover - It takes my polish off nicely, but I don't think it strengthens them.

Essie Quick-e Drying Drops - Love these! I'm sad I'm out. I should have gotten another bottle when they were on sale last. Now I'll have to wait.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream - This stuff smells horrid! It is super thick and worked great of my feet but it doesn't soak in quickly so my hands would be gross for awhile.

Simple Pur Hand Cleanser - This actually went bad. Ew.

Up & Up Cotton Rounds - The last of my stash. RIP.

Crest Pro-Health Mouthwash - My dentist gave me this to try. I used it awhile camping. It was ok. Might buy it after I'm done all my other stuff.

Crest Pro-Health Toothpaste - Same as above.

Pixi Bronzer mini in Subtly Suntouched - This makes me sad. With No Target, I can't replace this without having to order it online.

Brazen Mineral Eyeshadow in Birthday Suit - It was an ok colour but I have tons of shades just like it.

FCUK Her Perfume - This was ok, but it didn't make my wishlist.

Origins A Perfect World Toner - My Holy Grail toner. I always have a back up.

Clinque Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion (Original) - I have had this for years and just finished it. I made myself use it all the time to finish it up. It doesn't work for me anymore.

Origins Modern Friction Exfoliate - It's ok but I have one I like better.

Balea Hydrating Face Mask - This was a gel mask. It was ok, I didn't find it did anything.

Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels - I got another set in my Birchbox this month. So I'm going to try it again. I did like these though.

La Fresh Travel Lite Facial Cleansing Wipes - I didn't like these as you had to rinse your face after use. I used these while camping.

Eslor Replenishing Scrub - One time use sample. This was ok, but I have stuff I like better.

Eslor Conforting Mask - One time use sample. I loved this. It was cooling and a bright teal colour. If I could get ahold of it locally, I would buy it.

Shiseido Benefiance Eye Cream - This was ok, but I like my Origins one better.

G.M. Collin Nutriderm Cream - This is actually an empty from March that I've had in my purse since then. I really don't remember much about it, but I'm sure it was fine. I had gotten in from work when I got stuck there for a few days this winter.

July Nail Polish Colours

Just a couple of colours this month. We've been doing a lot of work in the woods this month, and well, nail polish is pointless when that happens.

Kinetics Professional Nail Colour in Top of the Wave - teal cream - I found this needed three thin coats to get opaque. It's pretty though and looks good on my toes.

OPI's A Good Man-darin Is Hard To Find - coral cream - I love this orange coral for the summer. It matches a couple of bikinis that I own.

Monday, 31 August 2015

ipsy - July 2015

July ipsy! I love the bag itself this month. It's actually cloth and not some sort of plastic.

Included in this month's bag:
  • tarte's Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer in Park Ave. Princess - sample size 0.11oz $12.41 full size 0.32oz $36
  • Ofra Cosmetics Eye Shadow/Highlighter in Bliss - sample size 0.14oz - full size 0.14oz $15
  • Avene Cleanance Gel Soapless Cleanser - sample size 25mL $2.50 - full size 200mL $20
  • Be A Bombshell Cosmetics Lip Balm in Ruby - sample size 4.6g - full size 4.6g $14
  • Jor'el Parker Eau de Perfume in Classico - sample size 8.8mL - full size 8.8mL $21
Retail value of July's ipsy bag: $64.91 ($22.51 more than last month)

This wasn't a bad bag. I was really excited about the tarte bronzer since I've had it on my wish list for awhile. The perfume is also really nice. Be A Bombshell is never exciting for me and I wouldn't be surprised if I just throw it out. The rest will go into the use up pile.

Birchbox - July 2015

It's Birchbox time! This wasn't my favourite one but I'm interested in trying the things.

Included in July's box:
  • theBalm Balm Desert Bronzer/Blush - sample size 0.028oz $2.63 - full size 0.225 $21
  • GilChrist & Soames Spa Therapy Body Lotion - sample size 1.35oz $3.04 - full size 8oz $18
  • Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels - sample size 1 pair $4.13 - full size 8 pairs $33
  • No. 4 Clarifying Shampoo - sample size 1oz $4.24 - full size 8.5oz $36
  • Vasanti Detox Nutrient-Rich Purifying Facial Cleanser - sample size 20mL $3.20 full size 150mL $24
Retail value of this month's box: $17.24 ($28.39 less than last month)

Um, $17 value?! I pay 14.95 for the box. This is aweful! I hope this doesn't stay this way or I'll be cancelling!

theBalm samples are so pointless. Everything else I'll use. The eye gels I have gotten from ipsy and I like those, so I may buy some with my points.

July Favourites

Since I've been trying to use up the makeup items in my project pan, this month is all about skincare favourites.

Evian Brumisateur Facial Spray - I got this with my ipsy points back in November and I've finally started to use it. I've seen spraying it on my face and neck right before I go to sleep so that I'm cooled off and it can soak in.

Glamglow Supermud Mask - I caved and bought it. It's now holy grail. It's really been helping with my oily t-zone.

Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask - We have air conditioners in our house and they dry out my skin. I've been using this twice a week or if my face is super dry from being out in the sun. I love the smell too! It's on my wishlist to buy the full size.

Monday, 24 August 2015

Finish 5 By Fall - Update 1

Well I haven't finished anything quite yet but I have made some progress.

Estee Lauder Mascara - I didn't see a point in taking a picture, since you can't see how much I've used. It is getting drier though, so I should be done it soon.

Cover Girl Eye Shadow - There's a little bit more pan there. I haven't worn it enough though. Have to work on that.

Elizabeth Mott Eye Liner - I made quite the dent in this. I use it almost everyday on my lower lash line. It's also really soft, so when I sharpen it, a lot goes away.

Urban Decay Eye Liner - I don't use the black liner as much and so it's taking forever to get down there.

Calgon Body Mist - It's half way done!

June Nail Polish Colours

June was a good polish painting month.

OPI's Music Hall Curtain Call - orange-red shimmer- One of my favourites to wear when I don't want to wear red.

OPI's Warm Me Up - charcoal shimmer - I wore this on my toes for most of the month.

China Glaze's Salsa - red cream - This is when I realized I have a ton of red polishes.

OPI's Designer... Be Better - silver/pink metallic shimmer - I wore this on my toes for Canada Day.

Joe Fresh's Cherry - red cream - Worn on my fingers for Canada Day. Told you I've got too many reds.
