ipsy - August 2014

My ipsy is here! I got it the same day I got the tracking email. I feel like it's still a little late in the month. This month's theme is "Beauty Schooled" and the bag is white with orange polkadots and is a tube bag.

Included in Augusts bag:
  • Urban Decay Perversion Mascara - sample size 0.1oz $6.50 - full size 0.4oz $26
  • Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk - sample size 1.06oz $6.46 (approx.) - full size 3.2oz $19.50

Not a bad bag. I don't have any dry shampoo on the go right now, so that will go right into the bathroom. Everything else will go into the use up pile.

Thank You Michael! You saved to nail polish pictures from being more horrible than they are.

July Nail Polish Colours

July was a great nail polish month. I'm hoping to keep up with taking care of my nails.

Cuccio Colour in A Kiss In Paris - Red Cream - Canada Day weekend colour. Must I say more.

Avon Nailwear Pro in Sunshine - Yellow Cream - I always wanted a yellow nail polish but I wasn't sure if I was going to like it, so I bought a cheap one. It was okay.

Avon Nailwear Pro in Sea Breeze - Teal Cream - I actually wore this on my toes to go with the yellow. It's quite sheer and I needed 3 or 4 coats.

Avon Mega Watt in Shock - Blue Cream - Really pretty colour. Hubs picked this one out.

OPI I Eat Mainely Lobster - Pinky Coral Shimmer - I went and got a pedicure at my spa. I was told to get a colour that went with the blue (hubby's idea) so this is what we picked.

Avon Nailwear Pro in Inspired Iris - Pink Metallic - It was our niece's bday and this is her favourite.

OPI Kyoto Pearl - White Pearl - I had an interview and so I had to pick something a bit more professional.

July Favourites

July has been a weird month of business and vacations. As I haven't been home a lot, this month's favourites are pretty simple.

Sally Hansen Moisturizing Nail Polish Remover - It was a decent price and I needed polish remover. I can't say it's moisturizing my nails because I haven't been doing much to dry them out. It works well to remove polish though.

Kirkland Daily Facial Towelettes - I'm quite surprised in these. They're wet but not dripping. They are textured to help remove all my make up. They don't dry out my skin. We went camping for Canada Day weekend and I packed them as baby wipes basically and we both loved them to wash up with. I have a giant box of them now, so they will get used up.

OPI Nail Envy - An old staple, this does help harden and therefore grow my nails. I use it as a base coat before painting my nails.

Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey - Pictured is a deluxe sample but they last forever and I keep getting the sample ones so I've never had to buy the full size. I would totally buy the full size though. It's like wearing a berry/red sheer lipstick, so you don't need a mirror to apply. I always have it in my purse just in case I forget my lip colour. It's moisturizing as well. I have used it in the past on my cheeks if I'm really desperate and it stains them quite well.

What were your favourites in July? Are you getting ready for the Fall colours yet?

July Empties

July was a decent month for empties, considering I wasn't home much.

Lush Ocean Salt - this is a staple of mine, but it's pricey. I went back through my empties and I've been out of this for quite sometime. I bought this a few months ago, so it lasts me a good amount of time.

Bean'stock Tropical Treat Bath Salts - this was a gift a long time ago and I just finished them up. They were okay; just normal bath salts.

Pure Divine Gentle Exfoliating Body Wash - travel size - this packaging was a pain. I had to pull of the lid every time. It cleaned well, but I don't feel like it exfoliated at all. The scent was nothing special.

Sensodyne Pronamel Toothpaste - My go-to toothpaste. I'm not sure why I haven't put this in before. I don't go through it super fast as I'm the only one who uses it.

Zyderma HS Antimicrobial Clarifying Cream - I got this in my February TopBox. It too me that long to finish it. It did nothing to my face though.

Avon Haiku, Avon Far Away, Thierry Mugler Alien, Juicy Couture Couture Couture - samples - the Juicy perfume would be the only one I'd think about buying, but of course it's been discontinued.

Copabanana and Blazing Strawberries from Davids Tea. The banana one was good, the strawberry one didn't really taste like strawberries to me. I'm slowly getting through the tea though!

TopBox - July 2014

Topbox did the addon thing again. So it seems to be every second month. I'm three for three so I might do it again if I continue this service.

This time I received a Deborah Lippmann nail polish in Across The Universe.  A $22 value for ten bucks. No complains there. I know I'm tired of nail polish, BUT it's Deborah Lippmann!

Included in July's Regular Topbox:

  • CND Vinylux Weekly Polish in Impossibly Plush - sample size 15mL - full size 15mL $11.90
  • CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat - sample size 15mL - full size 15mL $11.90
  • theBalm Instain Long-Wearing Powder Staining Blush in Swiss Dot - sample size 0.5oz $1.81(approx.) - full size 6.5oz $23.50
  • Vichy Normaderm Hyaluspot - sample size 3mL $4.00 - full size 15mL $20.00
Retail value of this month's box: $29.61($3.45 more than last month)

Ok WTF!? Month 5 of nail polish from Topbox. This box pissed me off. Polish and a top coat that NEEDS to go with it should NOT count as TWO samples. The blush sample actually says FREE SAMPLE on the back. Why did I just pay for it then!? August's box better be the best ever or I'm cancelling.

Beauty Box 5 - July 2014

My BB5 came on the same day as my ipsy this month. I feel like this was early, but I'm not complaining. Hopefully it'll be the same in August. July's theme is defining moments.

Included in this month's box:
  • Starlooks Lip Liner in Tickle Me Pink - sample size 2.4g - full size 2.4g $12.00
  • Anna Naturals Glowing Mama Walnut Face & Body Scrub - sample size 0.5oz $1.37(approx.) - full size 4oz $10.99
  • Body Drench Candy Licious Lips in Lemon Drop - sample size 0.09oz - full size 0.09 $3.99
  • Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara - sample size 0.24oz - full size 0.24 $7.99
  • Hask Argan Oil Intense Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment - sample size 1.75oz - full size 1.75oz $2.49
Retail value of July's BB5: $27.84($8.38 less than last month)

The value might be less but I'm not complaining about BB5 this time. 4 out of 5 products are full sized. The scrub might not be, but that's a good size sample. I wish the hair mask wasn't in a foil packet, but there's probably at least 2 uses in there. The lip balm is really the only ify product for me this month. I don't like lemon candy so I'm not sure if I'll like it. If not, I might just give it to my mom.

ipsy - July 2014

July's theme was Sensationally Sunkissed. Again I don't see the theme within the samples really, but that's okay. I know the picture is horrible for showing the bag this month, but you get the jest.

Included in July's ipsy bag:

  • Pur~lisse Pur~protect Essential Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 - sample size 15mL $16.50 - full size 50mL $55.00
  • Models Own Nail Polish in Red Sea - sample size 14mL - full size 14mL 4.99GBP (approx. $9.18CAD)
  • Clear Clinic Laboratories Vanished Clear Spot Treatment - sample size 2mL $9.34 (approx)- full size 7.5mL $35.00
  • bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 2.0 in The Inspiration - sample size 0.03oz $7.50 - full size 0.1oz $25.00
  • Pixi Beauty Mini Tinted Brilliance Balm in Pretty Pink - sample size 1.8g $13.25(approx.) - full size 3g 12.00GBP (approx. $22.08CAD)
Retail value of this month's bag: $55.77(approx. with exchange rates and such)($20.69 more than last month)

This bag was a good one, minus the nail polish. I really hope August doesn't bring more polish. Everything else will go into the use up bag. The spot treatment may go right into my skincare routine, depending on if there's nothing else in the use up bag just like it.

June Nail Polish Colours

Another month of not wearing polish. We went camping for the long weekend so I had time to paint my nails.

OPI My Private Jet - Charcoal Metallic - Hubby picked this out because it was the darkest one I own. It didn't last through the camping trip, but it's still pretty.

OPI Suzi & the 7 Dusseldorfs - Purple Shimmer - I actually wore this on my toes for the same trip. My pedicures almost last twice as long as my manicures, so I can't really tell much about wear. I love this colour though.

June Empties

June was the month where I ran out of staples. It was expensive.

Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner - I liked this but it won't replace my It's a Ten. My Mum loved it so I may track it down for her.

Origins A Perfect World Age-Defense Treatment Lotion with Green Tea - I love this toner. This bottle lasted me two months, so hopefully the next one will last a little longer. I have repurchased.

Boscia Super-Charge Overnight Moisture - I can't remember how long this lasted me, but I feel like it went really fast. The packaging sucks; as you can see I had cut it to get the rest of the product. There was a ton of product in there! I am going to get some samples of different kinds of night creams as I don't like cutting packages.

Davids Tea Snow Bunny - I finished more tea! This one was just okay.

Be Delectable Hand Cream in Vanilla & Cream - By Cake Beauty, I got this in one of my boxes. It was okay. I'm not a huge vanilla fan, so it didn't wow me.

Johnson & Johnson Mint Waxed Floss - Good old fashion floss. I have lots so I won't be buying it anytime soon.

June Favourites

Sadly I don't have any June favourites. Nothing really stuck out this month as it's been a crazy month with lots of stress.

Topbox - June 2014

Time for another TopBox. I'm starting to see a lot of the same types of products lately.

Included in June 2014's TopBox:

  • China Glaze Nail Lacquer in Feel The Breeze - sample size 14mL - full size 14mL $10.00
  • Bioderma Atoderm Gentle Shower Gel - sample size 100mL $2.99 - full size 500mL 14.95
  • Vasanti Cosmetics BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator - sample size 20g $5.67(approx.) - full size 120g $34.00
  • Barefoot Venus Lip Fable in Red Licorice - sample size 4g - full size 4g $7.50
Retail value of this month's box: $26.16 (10.69 less than last month)

Another nail polish (4th month in a row) and another lip gloss kind of product.
I'm really not feeling this box anymore.

Beauty Box 5 - June 2014

June's theme was Summer Chic. I'm not really how the samples go with the theme, but okay.

Included in the June BB5 box:
  • Vita Bath Body wash in Wild Red Cherry - sample size 2oz $1.33(approx.) - full size 12oz $7.95
  • Eslor Introductory Collection Calming Kit - sample size 5mL each product $15.48 - full size various sizes $159.00 (full size of whole line)
  • Organix Coconut Water Shampoo & Conditioner - sample size 7.4mL each product $0.42(approx.) - full size 385mL each product $21.98
  • Glam Natural Mascara in Black - sample size 0.13oz $14.00 - full size 0.25oz $28.00
  • Nicka K New York Nail Color in Ripe Apple - sample size 15mL - full size 15mL $4.99
Retail value of June's box: $36.22 ($7.66 more than last month)

Good old foil packets. I'll throw those and the mascara into the use up pile. The body wash will go into the neverending body wash bin and the polish will be added to the collection.
